Genesis 3/1-6 – Imagine There’s No Heaven

Isaac Asimov once wrote, “I don’t believe in an afterlife, so I don’t have to spend my whole life fearing hell, or fearing heaven even more. For whatever the tortures of hell, I think the boredom of heaven would be even worse.”
John Lennon sang, “Imagine there’s no heaven, It’s easy if you try, No hell below us
Above us only sky, Imagine all the people living for today, Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do, Nothing to kill or die for, And no religion too….”
Like Lennon, little children use their imaginations to create imaginary friends. Doesn’t mean the fake friends became reality. Like Asimov, I can pretend not to believe in gravity (after all it can get boring). Wrinkles still appear despite what I want to believe. Like many, its becoming more common for people to pretend their own realities based on how they choose to identify. And like Eve, these all believed what they wanted instead of God (Genesis 3). Did that make what God said any less real or true? Imagine Asimov’s and Lennon’s eternal re-education…if you can.
