A Revelation About Revelation
A new realization came upon me as I study Revelation (that I hope will help you): The are two underlying and overlapping, repetitive OT motifs that fill Revelation: Creation and Exodus.
This is because God’s power in Old Creation is the same power in New Creation. This is because God’s power in defeating the Old World Power of Egypt is the same power in defeating New World Power in John’s day.
Both of these were needed reminders in the days of those 7 churches in Asia.
Both of these are found in Jesus (whose life is one of the keys in interpreting Revelation) and His gospel.
Jesus is New Creation and the King who is greater than both Roman and Jewish power as seen in His resurrection! This is the gospel and Revelation reveals this gospel!
Now what about today? Is a new creation, an exodus from oppression, and ruling with Jesus needed in your life? It only comes, as seen in both the life of Jesus and Revelation, by winning the victory through unconventional warfare – through suffering so others can repent of causing suffering. Creation, Exodus from slavery, and Kingdom rule. That’s Revelation. That’s the gospel. Is that you?
