Acts 11:17 NASB “Therefore if God gave to them the same gift as He gave to us also after believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could stand in God’s way?”
Acts 11:17 HCSB Therefore, if God gave them the same gift that He also gave to us when we believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, how could I possibly hinder God?”
Acts 11:17 ESV If then God gave the same gift to them as he gave to us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could stand in God’s way?”
“Stand” in God’s “way” – the two words in quotes are the translation of kōluō. I checked every time this word is translated in the NASB, and this is the only time it is translated as “stand” and “way.” The literal translation is what the HCSB has – “hinder.”
