“Exposing” Children
Historically “exposing” children was a barbaric and callous practice of disposing of unwanted children. The practice was simple – expose a child to the dangers of nature’s cruelty. It was a passive act in that the parents did not actively take the life of the child, but active in the sense of putting the child into danger. This was seen in Egypt as a political ploy to retain power: “He dealt shrewdly with our race and forced our fathers to expose their infants, so that they would not be kept alive” (ESV, Acts 7:19).
February 25, 2019, in the name of healthcare the US Senate failed to pass a law protecting a child born alive after a botched abortions. Nationally we are returning to the historic practice of exposing children for political gain and personal sexual license.
In the Roman Empire, Christians were known for saving these poor, abandoned babies. This is further evidence that politically there is a segment of America that is now godless pagans who only mouth allegiance to God, if at all. America is entering an era that is more than Post-Christianity. Pre-Christianity paganism has returned.
