Ephesians 6:1-3 – Learning How To Be a Kid
Parent: “You should have said, “Yes mam,” and did what your mother said. Child: “You mean whatever my mother asks me to do I should say ‘Yes mam,’ and do it?” Parent: “Yes.” Child (sarcastically): “So if she says I should jump off a cliff….” There have been many ways in which adults bemoan that today’s children don’t know how to be children. Today’s children lack innocence or time to play, especially outdoors with friends and no fear. Extreme examples are “babies” having babies; teens having to work to be the “man or woman of the house.” Growing up too fast can cause a lost childhood. But there is a more serious way children have forgotten how to be children. They have forgotten how to obey without argument, resentment, or attitude. Children need to learn how to be children again. They need to learn how to respect and obey their parents (Ephesians 6:1-3).
