1 Timothy 1:13 – Ignorance is not Innocence
Ignorance fascinates me, in fact some might say I am an expert on the subject! Paul was shown mercy because “it was out of ignorance that I had acted in unbelief” (1 Timothy 1:13).
1. The very studious Paul was ignorant (warning to us all).
2. Ignorance is here equated to unbelief (a strong statement).
3. Paul knew exactly what he was doing, so his ignorance was not in innocence because he needed mercy.
May we all”
1. Thank God for His mercy when we repent of our ignorance.
2. Be more aware of our ignorance that causes actions leading to hurt, because ignorance is not the same as innocence.
3. And may we understand that ignorance is not a safe place to stay.
