John 7:37-38 – Chiasm
A – (37) On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out,
B – “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me.
B’ – And drink (38) Whoever believes in Me.
A’ – As the Scripture has said, ‘Out of His (i.e., Jesus) heart will flow rivers of living water.’”
- This is an alternative punctuation which leads to a different interpretation of who “His” is in v.38.
- This alternative punctuation also shows that believing in Jesus is coming to Jesus.
