Luke 23:34 – People Hurt Because They Are Hurting
Sometimes people hurt you wanting you to hurt them back which will justify their actions and get others on board with them, ending their self-imposed isolation and loneliness. Often they transfer or displace feelings of betrayal or non-acceptance from others onto the innocent. All you can do is love them back and praise them when possible. Their pushing you away is a “reverse hug” except they don’t know they are crying out for love. They hurt because they are hurting. So love them because they need loving. Jesus knew a thing or two about loving those who hurt and are hurting. “Father forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”
