Mark 7:20-23 – Homosexuality
“Jesus never said anything about homosexuality.” That is the common rant today, and that is correct. Jesus also never mentioned child molestation, rape, bestiality, “threesomes,” pre-marital sex and many other sexually deviant behaviors either. Yes, Jesus said nothing about any of those activities, if, that is, you want those specific words used. Problem is, Jesus didn’t speak in English. However, Jesus did speak about “pornia,” which is any illicit sexual activity. Therefore if any activity falls within that definition, then Jesus did speak against all those sins, just as Jesus spoke against lust. Since God is the author of sex, He gets to define sinful sex and holy sex. Before any rants, “sin is sin,” that is true too. And I have worshiped with those who repented of homosexual sex, bestiality, child molestation, and premarital sex. I even worshiped with someone who repented of having a sex-change operation. The key word is “repented.” The good news of the gospel is not that God stops calling sin, sin. The good news of the gospel is that God calls sinners to repent, and I am one of those sinners, and repentance leads to God giving them His grace. “Repent, for the kingdom of God of near.” “Repent and let each one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus for the forgiveness of sins.”
