Matthew 6:34 – One Day At A Time
Considering we are grandparents awaiting the birth of our grandchildren, with a touch of melancholy I asked my wife Janet, “How did we get to be this old?” She wisely responded, “One day at a time.” In reality, that is the answer for every “endgame” whether positive or negative. How our marriages will look in 10 years is decided “one day at a time”. How our children will be when they grow up is decided “one day at a time.” How we grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ is decided “one day at a time.” Jesus said in the Sermon on the Mount “Do not worry about tomorrow because tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Mt.6:34). That verse has always been one I call “really real” because I really live that reality. Tomorrows are built “one day at a time”. Make today how you want to be in all of life’s tomorrows.
