Genesis 1,3 – Seed After Its Kind
Genesis 3:15 is not the first mention of “seed” in Genesis. Notice this pattern:
1:11 – “seed according to its kinds”
1:12 – “seed according to its kinds”
When we get to Genesis 3:15 notice this pattern continues:
3:15 – “I will put hostility between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed”.
The Serpent (i.e., Satan) produces seed according to his kind and the woman will produce seed according to her kind. The latter is ultimately fulfilled in Jesus but includes us:
Romans 16:20 – “The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet”
This language is very close to the messianic promise:
Genesis 3:15 – He shall bruise you on the head, and you shall bruise him on the heel”.
The point I want to emphasis is this – we are either the seed of Satan or the seed of Christ. Each produce after their own kind. What kind are you?
