Genesis 3 – There’s Always Been Two Choices

There’s Always Been Two Choices
There’s always been two choices, two paths, two decisions.
It started in the Garden of Eden. The enigmatic tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil can be understood simply. Obeying God by not eating led to life and functioning as God intended – Good. Eating led to death and dysfunction – Evil.
Moses taught the same:
Deuteronomy 30:19 (CSB) “I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you today that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Choose life so that you and your descendants may live
David comes along and writes a poetic version which begins the books of songs called Psalms:
Psalm 1:1-2 (CSB) How happy is the one who does not walk in the advice of the wicked or stand in the pathway with sinners or sit in the company of mockers! Instead, his delight is in the LORD’s instruction, and he meditates on it day and night.
His son learned this lesson and wrote in a different fashion called proverbs:
Proverbs 14:q2 (CSB) There is a way that seems right to a person, but its end is the way to death.
Much of Proverbs is devoted to the concepts of two paths.
Jesus taught in parables this lesson in the Sermon on the Mount:
Matthew 7:13-14 (CSB) “Enter through the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the road broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who go through it. How narrow is the gate and difficult the road that leads to life, and few find it.
Life can bring many difficult choices. To help make good decisions, bring it down to the bare minimum: Is it right or wrong?
Remember these two sayings:
1. It is never wrong to do the right thing.
2. When you don’t know what to do, do what you know is right to do.
There’s two decisions. Always has been. Don’t let the world warp you thinking. There’s right and wrong, wisdom and chaos, life and death, Jesus and Satan.
