Genesis – Cursed Ground
Three times the ground is cursed by God. First it is with Adam (Genesis 3:17-19), then Cain (Genesis 4:10-12), and finally with the flood (Genesis 8:21). Each time it is due to man’s sin. With Adam, he is told he will return to the ground. With Cain, Abel’s blood cries from the ground. The third time resulted in man returning to the ground responsible for his own blood.
Adam is a “son of God” (Luke 3:38). Cain had been born with the help of the Yahweh (Genesis 4:1). And Noah found favor with God.
The curse is removed when Romans 8:18-22 HCSB is fulfilled – For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is going to be revealed to us. (19) For the creation eagerly waits with anticipation for God’s sons to be revealed. (20) For the creation was subjected to futility–not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it–in the hope (21) that the creation itself will also be set free from the bondage of corruption into the glorious freedom of God’s children. (22) For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together with labor pains until now.
