TODAY’S PRAYER – Genesis 35:1-4
TODAY’S PRAYER – God tells Jacob to “Get up! Go to Bethel and settle there. Build an alter….” (Genesis 35:1). Nothing surprising there. But the next verse…”So Jacob said to his family and all who were with him, ‘Get rid of the foreign gods that are among you. Purify yourselves….” (35:2). Shouldn’t Jacob had already led in the spiritual purity of his family and company? Two thoughts: 1) God had plans for Jacob despite this imperfection; 2) It’s never too late to try influencing your family spiritually. “Dear God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and me, help me to see my imperfections as a spiritual leader in my home; and help me to never give up on my family and my responsibilities to them. Amen in the name of the Son of Abraham, David, and His heavenly Father.
