1 Samuel 10:22 – Fear of the Present
Fear is often described as a fear of the unknown, a fear of the future, thereby finding comfort in the present and in inaction. I wonder though if when it comes to serving God and other areas, it is the exact opposite. We fear the present, not even looking to the future, and find no comfort at all in the present because all we do if focus on the reality of our own inabilities. We don’t fear the unknown, we fear the known. And we are the known. Thus Saul hid in the baggage. And we hide in our pews.
