What? Wow!
Wow, just an unbelievable wow! “When someone sins in any of these ways: …if someone touches anything unclean — a carcass of an unclean wild animal, or unclean livestock, or an unclean swarming creature — without being aware of it, he is unclean and incurs guilt.” (CSB Leviticus 5:1-2).
Let me get this story straight. God said touching, even accidentally, even unknowingly, something unclean is sinful? That doesn’t sound fair or even logical! Why would God do this?
I don’t know. But, lest me suggest two very important possible reasons:
1. God is God, and he makes the rules, not me. That’s our constant battle.
2. One purpose of the Old Law was to prove I don’t want to be saved by any law. That’s grace.
When I see things such as Leviticus 5:2, I need to remember these two lessons: I’m not God and thank God I am saved by grace. If that is why God did that, then that’s two very good reasons.
