Numbers 11:1-15 – Advice to Young Parents
With Janet’s surgery, we were blessed by our spiritual family bringing us dinners. One night while eating a wonderful dish with turkey and sweet potatoes, I noticed one son had eaten the turkey and left the potatoes. I love sweet potatoes but he doesn’t. I asked if he was thankful for all the love shown by all the meals. He was. I asked him if he was eating this dish at their house and did then what he did tonight if that would be rude. He said yes. I reminded him of the Israelites not being thankful for manna. He then ate all the sweet potatoes and said they got better tasting the more he ate. Parents, much of your training will involve whether your children become the boss of what they eat, or thankful for what is given them. Don’t fix them their own special foods because they don’t like what you made for everyone else. You are training them to be either thankful or selfish. Its your choice.
