Psalm 73:4 – Unintended Interpretation
Psalm 73:4 reads in most translations something like the NASB – “they have no pains in their death.” Other’s include “they do not suffer pain” (GNB) and “they have no pain” (BBE). The point is that the unrighteous appear to have an easier life than the righteous. However, in reading the Holman Christian Standard Bible, the wording gives what I assume is an unintended interpretation on my part. It reads, “They have an easy time until they die.” Yes, that can mean the same thing as saying their life is easy. But when I read it, I thought, “but after they die….” Unintended, but true.
