Does Your Church Teach All the Gospel?
1. If it doesn’t tell you that the gospel requires Jesus’s death, and therefore your death to your old life…(Mark 9:31).
2. If it doesn’t tell you that the gospel includes Jesus’s burial, and therefore your burial in baptism…(Matthew 12:40).
3. If it doesn’t tell you that the gospel declares Jesus’s resurrection, and therefore your new style of life…and a new resurrection on the last day…(Luke 24:2-3)
4. If it doesn’t tell you that the gospel is Jesus’s ascension story to a throne followed by the sending of the Holy Spirit, and therefore your subjection and obedience to your king…(Acts 2:40)
5. If it doesn’t tell you that the gospel is the fulfillment of original creation, that Jesus is the Image of God incarnate, the New Adam and we are New Creation…. (1 Corinthians 15:45).
6. If it doesn’t tell you that the gospel is faith in a Person for righteousness and not in law (or any act in and of itself as the means of righteousness)…(Romans 4).
This list is not exhaustive, and I am continually learning more. We all need to keep learning which is good. However, if your church denies any of the above is the gospel, then your church doesn’t teach all the gospel.
