John 1:38,41-42 – Are Translations of the Bible Scriptural?
Reading a book on translation and came across and interesting thought, at least interesting to me. The God of Heaven always intended His word to be translatable into different languages. We find this first in Genesis where God speaks “Hebrew” and not some heavenly language. Then the OT continues with portions in Aramaic as the Jews changed languages, and the NT in Greek. Even the NT often quotes a translated Bible, the LXX and calls it inspired (2 Tim.3:16-17), not because the translation itself was inspired but because it is based upon the original. Therefore, looking at an application today, no one should be stuck theologically on one translation such as the “KJV Only” advocates, or even our favorite translation. The word of God is meant and designed by God to be translated so that the people can understand. So check out different translations. You might just hear God speaking like you haven’t before.
