Poem by Rachel Hall on Jesus’ Last Days
Now was the time for the Lord’s Supper and a time to meet,
A time to connect with me and become complete.
“Take eat this is my body,” which to them I told
and this communion is more precious than gold.
I then said to them, “Drink from it, all of you; for this is My blood of the covenant which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins.”
This communion was to be for all and if you follow me, you will win.
Next came the night in Gethsemane of my betrayal and arrest
I left my apostles to go pray and I was very stressed.
Though holy and God as I was
I was also in the form of man and I trembled as man does.
But because I am the Son of God, was God, and believed in the Only God, and was to finish what I had begun,
I said, “…Your will be done.”
I then came back to my disciples sleeping on the land
And woke them saying, “…behold, the one who betrays Me is at hand”
And as I had said, Judas approached
Who was one of my apostles, one that I coached.
Judas then gave me up to the crowd
And I went willingly as I had vowed.
But behold one of my own tried to save me and cut off a slave’s ear
However I, always filled with love, healed him so now he can hear.
I then went through trials and mock
I stood still in my vow and am your rock.
The time of the crucifixion had finally come
And the eternal price for sin was about to be done.
I, Son of God, while on the cross, had saved a thief
Who I would see in paradise and who would have no more grief.
Whilst on the cross I spoke to the people
In a way that they would understand, while I was on this disdainful steeple.
I then gave up my spirit to God in heaven
Which was the last of my sayings numbering seven
The deed I vowed to do was finally done
And now all of God’s children can be a true daughter and son.
Rejoice; rejoice for three days have passed since my death
And I will again have breath.
I rose from the dead, as I said I would,
I rose from the dead, as I said I could.
Now my vow has fully been completed
And my brothers sisters now can in heaven, be marvelously greeted.
