Praying 1 Thessalonians 2:11-12 – Not My Kingdom
PRAYER: God, it is Your kingdom not mine. You are the king and the inviter. Let us all go to the sideroads and backroads to find the unwanted, who are by You and now me, wanted and loved. Amen.
DEVOTIONAL: Read the text tomorrow and you might emphasize how Paul acted as a father to these believers. Read on the next day after that and you might be struck by how he accentuates the worthy walk on which we embark. But reading today I am reminded of an easily forgotten fact – It is God’s kingdom, not mine. God calls us, which means it is His invitation, not mine. God chooses, I accept the chosen. I dare not reject those called into His kingdom. Are our words and actions caring for those who are walking in His kingdom? On second thought we can read all three phrases today: Act like a father; Accentuate our worthy walk; Accept all those invited.
TEXT: “As you know, like a father with his own children, we encouraged, comforted, and implored each one of you to live worthy of God, who calls you into his own kingdom and glory.” (CSB’17 1 Thessalonians 2:11-12)
