Throuple
A new word for an old sin – throuple. A throuple combines “three” with “couple”. A congresswoman just resigned, partly due to this. Google “throuple” and find an article which highlights three former evangelicals who ran away from God’s restrictive sexual ethics into each others lascivious arms.
What are the old names? Fornication, harems, polygamy, polyandry; and a newer Mormon one, “sister wives”.
“But David did it and God didn’t say anything or do anything!” That assumes silence is permissive and God verbally condemns every time someone sins. Thre fact God saved them is due to Jesus’s atonement and not God’s approval of sin (Romans 3). Be thankful we can be saved without perfection but don’t sin so grace can abound.
Jesus said, ““Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that he who created them in the beginning made them male and female,” and he also said, “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two will become one flesh? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, let no one separate.”” (CSB’17 Matthew 19:4-6)
While the discussion specifically is about divorce for any reason, there is a troubling list of implied sins because they are contrary to God’s creation:
• Fornication (1 Cor.6:16)
• Homosexuality (Romans 1:26-27)
• Multiple partners whether orgies, polygamy, and throuples (1 Corinthians 7:2; 1 Timothy 3:2)
Sin doesn’t change but the names do to make it sound hip, cool, and new. But this sin is as old as creation and Lamech and his two wives (Genesis 4:19).
