Let Us Have Peace
Did you know that one of the greatest generals in the Civil War’s Northern army had two generals from the Southern army as pallbearers 20 years after the war? Yes, Grant, from the Federal Yankee side, requested two Confederates to be pallbearers. This is because he died as he lived. Even in his presidential slogan he pleaded, “Let us have peace”.
We as believers have even a greater charge to keep:
“making every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” (CSB’17 Ephesians 4:3)
May every congregation and every Christian who had split over hurt feelings and personal opinions claim the same plea – “Let us have peace”.
