Accidental Scholarly Pun
Scholarly works do not implore puns, so when you see one, it is even funnier because it is unintended. While reading “The Nubian Pharaohs, Black Kings on the Nile,” the writer of the foreword said, “Following all the attention focused on Nubia in the 1960’s (part of which disappeared beneath the rising waters of Lake Nasser behind the dam at Aswan)….Then in the next paragraph wrote, “This magnificent book certainly deserves a special place among the flood of publications currently fueling readers’ enthusiasm….” So we have a flood of publications dealing with a geographical and historical place that has been flooded. No pun intended.
