A Hesitancy to Getting Baptized
“We are called to be faithful, not flawless” (Michael W. Green ) (I hope I got the quote right). This was a great answer to the question of someone hesitant to be baptized because they weren’t sure they could be perfect after being baptized.
When I was presented with that dilemma by someone, I responded, “Don’t worry about whether you can be perfect, you won’t be. You will fail at times. Everyone does. That’s why we continually need the blood of Jesus (1 John 1).
What would keep you from being baptized? (Acts 8: 3).
Why do you delay? Get up and be baptized (Acts 16:22).
Don’t let the fear of disappointing God stop you from being baptized.
The point is, if we need Jesus ŧo become saved, we will continually need Jesus to stay saved.
P.S. This is a practical response to those who are tenderhearted; and not a theological deep dive into how Jesus makes us perfect.
