Do You Want Eden?
Do You Want Eden?
Eden is gone, but the true meaning of that garden is available to all. Notice this pattern:
First, God in the garden of Eden.
• “And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.” (NASB+ Genesis 3:8)
But them mankind died because of a tree.
Second, a type of Christ’s ascension found in Enoch:
• “And after he fathered Methuselah, Enoch walked with God 300 years and fathered other sons and daughters. So Enoch’s life lasted 365 years. Enoch walked with God; then he was not there because God took him.” (CSB’17 Genesis 5:22-24)
Third, we have the last man standing in righteousness in a world gone wrong:
• “These are the family records of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among his contemporaries; Noah walked with God.” (CSB’17 Genesis 6:9)
The garden of Eden is about walking in fellowship and partnership with God. Now notice how we all can regain Eden:
• “Mankind, he has told each of you what is good and what it is the LORD requires of you: to act justly, to love faithfulness, and to walk humbly with your God.” (CSB’17 Micah 6:8)
• “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time for us to do (lit., walk in them”).” (CSB’17 Ephesians 2:10)
• “and walk in love, as Christ also loved us and gave himself for us, a sacrificial and fragrant offering to God.” (CSB’17 Ephesians 5:2)
• “so that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and growing in the knowledge of God,” (CSB’17 Colossians 1:10)
Jesus walked this earth in righteousness, walked into and out a garden, died on a tree, and ascended into heaven to let us walk with God in Eden.
