Ephesians 4 – Biblical Unity in Diversity
I was listening to Ephesians and it struck me how chapter 4 starts off with seven “ones” (hope, baptism, faith, etc.) and then goes to four “somes” (apostles, evangelists, etc.) We are united but diversified which leads to more unity as the gifts help the body minister to itself from different levels of knowledge into a greater whole. So we progress from what to unites us, to utilizing how we are different, to ministering to each other until we reach the unity of the faith. All of this takes recognizing how we are already one as we deal with how we differ which takes: Ephesians 4:2-3: “with all humility and gentleness, with patience, accepting one another in love, diligently keeping the unity of the Spirit with the peace that binds us.”
