Ephesians 4:14 – Interpret God Like A Grown-up
An example of necessary implication: One night, my sons were in bed, talking. I told them, “Please go to sleep, thank you.” They continued talking, more quietly. I told them, “That means no more talking.” Did I originally say “no more talking?” No. Did I mean “no more talking?” Yes. They could have interpreted my original statement as “please be quite, others are trying to sleep.” But that would only be because that is what they wanted to think. May I suggest the problem in interpreting the Bible is not that the writers could be interpreted various ways, but that the readers can interpret how they want. Let’s be grown ups in interpreting God.
