Ephesians 6:4; Colossians 3:21 – Parenting Method
Parenting Method – Been trying something with our teenagers which I think is helpful to them and therefore us. When in trouble, we take them through the process as if they were the parent, examining the evidence, so they can see the situation not from their defensive point of view but from a parent’s, from ours…and hence their’s to be if they have children. Stepping out of their role of child has been effective in fulfilling Colossians 3:21 – “Fathers, do not exasperate your children, so they won’t become discouraged” and Ephesians 6:4 – “Fathers, don’t stir up anger in your children, but bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.” But it also has another benefit. It helps them to learn to see things through the eyes of others. That is a very spiritual yet practical benefit in dealing with people. It teaches empathy, leadership, understanding, patience, and more.
