Hebrews 1:1-2 – Prayer and Reading Have Replace Prophet and Priest
Prayer and reading have replaced the prophet and priest. When we pray we speak to God. When we read God speaks to us. The prophet was speech from God coming downward. The priest was speech through sacrifice going upward. The prophet says God wishes to be heard. The priest says the people wish to be heard. No prophets today are needed because God speaks to all. No priests apart from the people today are needed because all speak to God. All Christians are priests (1 Pet.2:9); and only the Jesus is God’s true prophet (Heb.1:1-2). Prayer and reading have replaced the prophet and the priest.
