1 Thessalonians 3:10 – Completing Our Faith
“You’re lacking in faith.” How would we respond to such a statement? Be honest. Paul wrote to the Thessalonians, a great church, a group he loved, one he praised as highly as any, a church who’s work of faith, labor or love, and endurance of hoped was renowned, “as we pray very earnestly night and day to see you face to face and to complete what is lacking in your faith” (1 Thess.3:10). See, this wasn’t an insult. Did you think it was? Facts are facts, and we all are in fact needing our faith completed too. But none of us will, if we take offense to “you’re lacking in faith.” But wait, Paul didn’t say, “Complete what is lacking in your faith.” He said he and his companions would do that. So don’t try to do this alone. Accept the help of God by accepting the help of the people God has put into your life.
