1 Thessalonians 3:13 – Is My Heart Blameless Enough for Jesus to Return?
Is My Heart Blameless Enough For Jesus to Return? – Growing Healthy Communities
TEXT: “May he make your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his saints. Amen.” (CSB’17 1 Thessalonians 3:13)
DEVOTIONAL – I’m a pessimist. I’m also motivated by guilt. Divine threats exist, and work on me, because God is God and I am not. My nature is to read in fear – “Is my heart blameless enough for Jesus to return?”. . The above are my failures and weak faith. The above is not how I want, need, and should read Paul’s words. Instead, I need to read them with total dependence upon God, working his divine love within my heart. That is my only hope, and I don’t mean that fearfully and pessimistically. I am optimistic God can do in and for me what I have already proved I can’t. And his effect in me is becoming blameless and holy when Jesus comes again, with his saints. Do you begin to see our resurrection here? Jesus comes. God makes us blameless and holy. Their holy ones are coming back too!
PRAYER: Our Father who is in heaven, holy is your name. Your king come with all his saints. Your will be done in remaking me. Give us this day our daily holiness. Forgive our debts as we forgive others, that’s you making us holy. Deliver us from evil, that’s you making us blameless. For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, amen.
