I saw 3 appearances to the apostles and 3 “restorations” of Peter that are not found in the other gospel accounts and started wondering, “Are there more?” My guess is this is a symbolic representation of the resurrection on the 3rd day. Interesting to also note that the first “sign” in John 2 at a wedding feast, of water to wine which is a physical transformation, happened “on the 3rd day” (2.1). Was it too symbolic of the resurrection?
