Two Bumper Stickers – John 14:6
Two bumper stickers, same car, same color pattern, impossible meanings when taken together. One said, “Be the Church.” The other said, written in symbols, “COEXIST”:
for the letter “c,” a crescent moon representing Islam is substituted.
for the letter “o,” the peace symbol or pagan/Wiccan pentacle is substituted.
for the letter “e,” a male/female symbol or a scientific equation is substituted.
for the letter “x,” the Star of David representing Judaism is substituted.
for the letter “i,” a pagan/Wiccan symbol is substituted.
for the letter “s,” a Chinese yin-yang symbol is substituted.
for the letter “t,” a cross representing Christianity is substituted.
Negatively, being Christ’s Church means not accepting Islam’s teaching that Jesus did not die on the cross for our sins and was not the Son of God; not practicing witchcraft; or accepting the equal dualism of Taoism (yin-yang). Positively, being Christ’s Church means we are made up of male and female, and Jews and Gentiles, and all those who leave false systems of religion.
The point of COEXISIT is the number one virtue of today’s amoral society – tolerance. Jesus didn’t die so we could be tolerant of sin and error; although we are to be tolerant of one another as we grow into Christ (Ephesians 4:2). Jesus is the Way (not ways), the Truth (not speak your own truth), and the Life (false gods leads to death) (John 14:6). I’m not trying to be sarcastic because the Church loves those who don’t love the truth; but apparently the makers of these bumper stickers and those who stick them, they cannot coexist with logic, the Bible, or even their own bumper stickers.
