I Met A Man in Death Row
I Met A Man On Death Row
I met a young man on death row, obviously with a criminal past. He had accepted his own guilt and didn’t blame anyone except himself, including “the system”. And yet it is equally obvious he knew a lot concerning spiritual matters. For example, he knew:
1. There was a God.
2. That God should be feared.
3. Jesus was divine.
4. Jesus had been crucified.
5. Jesus had been wrongly condemned.
6. Jesus came to earth to receive a kingdom.
7. Jesus’s kingdom was spiritual.
8. Jesus would receive his kingdom after He died.
9. Jesus would survive death.
10. That when he dies, that is also not the end.
Unfortunately this young man turned away from from all that spiritual training, and turned to crime. Why, I don’t know. I also don’t know who had taught him, but it was obvious that when I met him, he already knew a lot, including about Jesus.
Before he died, he knew needed to repent of his criminal behavior and he did. He even confessed his belief in Jesus to any who were around. Sadly, I wasn’t able to get any more information from him or about him before his death. Honestly, I don’t know if he had previously been baptized or not. With as much as he knew concerning truth, I would not be surprised if he had been baptized.
I met this young man in a place called Luke 23, he is the thief on the cross. That row of death he was on, was on a cross beside Jesus. Before using him as an example of someone who was saved without being baptized, with as much as he knew, how can you be sure he wasn’t baptized before he became, “the thief on the cross?”
