- The third temptation here is not worshiping Satan, which is repulsive. The temptation is as subtle as it is blatant – What is Jesus willing to put up with to get what He wants? He did come for a kingdom, right? Applied personally, what are we willing to put up with to get what we want? What are we willing to lose, to gain what we “need?” What are we willing to do and become for the sake of our desires? We see this playing itself out in an all-too-real way in people’s lives. Accepting being beaten, prostituted, abused, neglected, all for the momentary filled need – spoiled, defiled, empty “love.” Our hearts ache at the pain of others, willing to worship a beast to fill their emptiness.
