Matthew 5:10-12 – A Christian in a Box?
In the Jewish Museum in Berlin, Germany, there is display called, “A Jew in a Glass Box” where he answers questions for a generation far removed from the guilt of the Holocaust, and far removed from knowing any or many Jews, meaning they are strangely close to the desired Final Solution. Only 200,000 Jewish Germans left in a population of 82 million Germans. Six million Jews were murdered and tortured through medical testing during Hitler’s reign. Of course, there is controversy among the German Jews whether this is proper and respectful and even real to life as Jews today live their lives as a historical live display, or horrible and degrading. Personally I think it is brilliant (i.e., A Night of Broken Glass – 1938; Adolf Eichmann sitting in a glass booth at the 1961 trial in Israel which led to his execution); but sad…and wonder if one day there might be in the United States of America, “A Christian in a Glass Box.” They didn’t think it could happen either.
