Matthew 5-7 – Book Titles
If I were to write a book on the Sermon on the Mount, I thought of some “different” titles:
• The Sermon on the Mount – Nothing New Here But Don’t Move Along
• The Sermon on the Mount – What I Meant to Say Was….
• The Sermon on the Mount – How Many Times Have I Told You To…?
The point would be that Jesus’ teachings were radical, not because they were new, but because they were old – old and ignored. Jesus didn’t teach a new radical morality. Jesus taught law (old, new, and every) like God meant for it to be understood and practiced from the beginning, “Transcendent Law.”
