Biblical truth standing on its spiritual head to get our eternal attention.

Who Am I?

Who Am I?
One study method I enjoy is “Who Am I?”. The first part is where I give facts which leads others to figure out the answer based upon those facts. The more facts given, the more specific the answer. For example, “Who Am I?”
1. Given a land.
2. The given land was bountiful.
3. The given land was bountiful without the receiver making it so.
4. The given land was lost because of sin.
If your first thought is Israel, you are correct. Is Israel the only answer? Look again to see if there is more than one answer.
Is your second thought Adam and Eve? Then again you are correct.
This shows how the Bible tells the same stories over and over again. This method expands on the first. It shows continuity in the Bible. Adam and Eve being gifted the Garden of Eden foreshadows Israel being given Canaan. It also foreshadows each being exiled from the land.
Is there a third answer? “Blessed are the gentle/humble, for they will inherit the earth” (Matthew 5:5). Followers of Jesus also inherit a “land”. Contextually, the land is most likely the kingdom of God. Enter the “land” through the narrow gate (Matthew 7:13). Be thankful for this grace and beware of losing the opportunity to enter into the final “land” (which will not be lost) because of sin (Matthew 7:21-23).
