V.22 – At the Same Time Prepare for Me a Lodging
If you ask someone to do you a favor and then tell them you hope to visit them, you gain the psychological edge. They know they have to succeed because you will be there to witness their efforts. This is the position in which Philemon is placed. The term “hama” (at the same time) shows the immediacy in which all this is to happen. All chances of procrastination have been taken away. We know Paul was released from prison, but we known nothing concerning a visit back to these people. It can be assumed it happened.
