Revelation 22:14 – From Beginning to End
In the beginning God creates Adam and Eve to be His representative image on earth. They chose to not represent by failing to listen. This is the beginning of the end.
God begins all over again with Noah, a new physical creation. He does well initially, but then gets drunk from his own planting success and fails. His son, Ham, fails also.
God creates a new nation called Israel through Abraham and his miracle son Isaac. Despite being redeemed from injust slavery, Israel repeats their taskmaster’s unmerciful treatment of the needy. Hebrew prophets fill their preaching with their failures to listen to God as how to worship, and their lack of practicing justice towards their neighbors.
Finally, God forms a new family called the Church through His virgin born, One Unique Son, Jesus. Individually we each lived all of history’s failures from beginning to end. But as the redeemed Church we are willing to spiritually hear, practice self-control, worship according to God’s way, practice justice towards our neighbors, and be the image of God in Christ. Ultimately, Jesus is our success because He said, “It is finished.” Jesus, the true image of God is, “the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end” (Rev.22:13).
