Romans 1 – Increase in Homosexuality?
Consider this: Homosexuality will increase within the United States. Although some statistics show that currently the majority of those who suffer homosexual desires were sexually molested as a child, I predict the number of people who practice homosexuality will rise. The reasons are two-fold. First, according to Romans 1, same-sex attraction is actually the result of falling away from God and not the overwhelming first cause. As America gets more secular and worships its own idols, God will deliver these sinners over to their increasing fleshly desires therefore increasing the number who practice homosexuality. And second, the more widespread and accepted a sin becomes the fewer the societal restraints. Therefore without the societal taboo, more and more will practice homosexuality because anything goes and society must be tolerant of all ways of self-identification. For those who have suffered molestation, they need our understanding and God’s gospel for healing. For those who wilfully choose to continue in sin because God has given them over, they are already suffering for their sins and need God’s gospel for their healing. And this how all sin is the same, all sin has the same cure, the gospel of God.
