Romans 10:9-10 – Chiasm
(9) that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; (10) for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.
This might be the most easily recognized chiasm within Romans.
1A – confess with your mouth
2A – Believe in your heart
2B – with the heart a person believes
1B – with the mouth he confesses
We can even break this one down even further because it is so obviously structured chiastically:
1A – Confess
2A – Mouth
3A – Believe
4A – Heart
4B – Heart
3B – Believe
2B – Mouth
1B – Confess
Apparently Paul knew about this style of writing, or else this is a huge coincidence.
