Romans 12:21 – Reacting to the Tucson Tragedy
Evil cannot be defeated if we deny its very existence. Evil cannot be extinguished by another evil for then it still exists, just in a different form. There is only one solution, one weapon powerful enough, and that is Divine goodness. But evil is devious, being of the devil, and confuses those who are good into destroying evil through evil means, by confusing vengeance with justice. Yet evil cannot be extinguished by evil, but it can destroy goodness. So soldiers of good must guard their hearts and never deny how easily evil can indwell, because if we deny its possible existence even within, evil cannot be defeated.
This was written as a response to the tragedy in AZ with a view towards another tragedy greater in scope, and that is the secularism within our nation, and the ease in which Satan tempts us all to react in an ungodly way to evil (Romans 12:21).
