Exodus 5:2 – The Secret to Obeying God
Do you want to know the secret to obeying God, even when faced with doing something contrary to your own presumed good?
It is found from a negative example: “But Pharaoh responded, “Who is the LORD that I should obey him by letting Israel go? I don’t know the LORD, and besides, I will not let Israel go.”” (CSB’17 Exodus 5:2).
“Knowing” God can be just an awareness, which probably refers to Pharaoh’s point. But turning this negative into a positive, “to know/yada” also refers to a personal, intimate, relationship.
So, are you just “aware” of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit from a distance knowledge? Or, are you so close to the Triune God that you have an Abba, a Big Brother as an example, and are filled with the Holy One and His “Fruit of the Spirit”?
Better yet, does God “know” you? “But now, since you know God, or rather have become known by God, how can you turn back again to the weak and worthless elements? Do you want to be enslaved to them all over again?” (CSB’17 Galatians 4:9)
The secret is now “known”.
