Biblical truth standing on its spiritual head to get our eternal attention.

We Can’t Always Tell By the Circumstances

Adam and Eve were forced from the garden, a place of fruit and water, to live in a cursed land.
The Israelites were freed, then wandered in a cursed land until they came to a place of milk and honey.
Jesus left his home and came to a spiritually cursed land where He was offered sour wine.
The first couple inherited a wilderness-type environment because of their sin. The Israelites
wandered for 40 years in the wilderness because of their unbelief. Jesus descended to earth’s wilderness because of our transgressions. All this shows the wilderness represents Satan’s domain.
And yet, Jesus, Paul, John the Baptist, and Elijah, also spent time in the wilderness, prepared by God for how He would use them.
What’s the point? 1) Just by looking at circumstances, no one can know whether the wilderness is punishment or preparation. So be careful how we judge, or blame God. 2) Which would we rather choose – the wilderness of pain or the wilderness of preparation? It’s not just the situation that’s important; it’s the reason. The wilderness is also God’s domain.
