Genesis 1:1 – What’s In Genesis 1:1?
Simple things impress me especially when unexpectedly filled with treasures. Let’s take the phrase “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” It is filled both with science and theology: Science – “In the beginning (time) God (force) created (action) the heavens (space) and the earth (matter). These five are the manifestations of all scientific phenomenon. Theology – “In the beginning (God is before the beginning therefore eternal), God (Elohim is sovereign, singular yet plural) created (God is omnipotent) the heavens and the earth (God is omnipresent yet transcendent; and created exactly what was needed so He is omniscient and it was very good so He is omnibenevolent).” These descriptions are fundamental to separating the true God above pretenders. So much truth in so few words.
