TODAY’S PRAYER – Genesis 24
Do you remember where Abraham went soon after he left Ur and came to Canaan?? He left “the promised land” to go to Egypt (Genesis 12). One must wonder if leaving pleased Yahweh. Decades later, Abraham needs a wife for Isaac. He commissions his household manager to return to Abraham’s homeland to secure a bride. The servant asks, “Suppose the woman is unwilling to follow me to this land? Should I have your son go back to the land you came from?” (Genesis 24:5). Abraham vehemently rejects that idea, all because this time he focuses on God’s land promise (24:6-9). I think going to Egypt showed a lack of trust; not allowing Isaac to go to Ur shows Abraham’s faith has grown. “Through Jesus I pray, oh faithful God, I regret a specific decision I made while I was young. I should have trusted you more. Help me to grow in my faith to You who is trustworthy. Amen.”
