TODAY’S PRAYER – Genesis 25
Esau sold his birthright to Jacob for a bowl of beans. He came in from an unsuccessful hunting trip exhausted and famished. Upon asking Jacob for a bowl, the younger brother bargained Esau’s birthright (twice as much left to the one with the birthright) for lentils and bread. Esau rationalized his bad decision by exaggerating he was close to death. “Dear God of all good blessings, help me not to blow things out of proportion and make rash decisions, or even sin. Give me the state of mind to always focus more on your blessings, even those in the future, than on my current problems. Through the first born of the dead, Amen.”
